You're a big boy....

Collen, you're getting so big.
How did two months fly by so quickly?
And how did you go from an itty-bitty newborn to a chunky infant in such a short time?!

Today, we went to the doctor for your 2 month check up.
I enjoy checking all the "yes" boxes on the form I have to fill out each time....stating that you have reached the milestones you are meant to reach by this time in your development.
I also enjoy the nurses oohing and aahhing over the cute little baby who gives his smiles out to everyone!
Although, you aren't always so smiley when we go to the doctor. Sometimes, you look like this....

But, that lip doesn't stay poked out for long. You quickly recover and go back to your smiley self in no time!
Today we learned that you are a growing boy, and you like to eat!
Height: 23 inches (50%)
Weight: 13lbs 13oz (75-90%)
Head: 41.1cm
We had a funny moment when the nurse reported to us that you weighed 20 pounds. The look on my face had to have been priceless. Luckily, the scale was off balance! Whew... I told the nurse that if it had been true, we would have had to get all the doctors in here to see the 20 pound 2 month old! At this rate, though, you'll likely reach 20lbs by 6 months!

You were such a brave boy for your shots. You got two of them today, and we have to go back for one more vaccine since Mommy didn't want you to have 3 in one day. 2 was enough! You only cried for a few seconds, and when Dr. Prevatte picked you up, you calmed right down. Such a good boy.
The doctor said you look wonderful, healthy and that you are growing well. We like him because he ooohs and aahhs over you, calls you cute, and makes us feel like you're as special to him as you are to us.
When we got home, I decided we should try a little picture of the two of us together. Here is the outcome...
Not too bad....and I'm starting to see a little of me in that face of yours. Most of all, we're beginning to see a lot of your brother in that face of yours. We can't help but smile about that because it's almost like the four of us being together.

Here's proof of one of your shots.

Look at those chubby little legs....

Soon after our photo session, I put you in your swing to rest.
Those shots sure do take a lot out of such a little person! Minutes later, I found you like this. Paci falling out of the mouth....that's some good sleep.
In the past few days, you have started doing a few new things. For about a week now, you have only put your right hand in your mouth. Over the weekend, you discovered your left hand could go in your mouth, too! You are also jibbering and jabbering much more these days. You're cooing, and you've masted the "ah-goo" sound.
In the mornings, you wake up so happy. You've definitely put yourself into a routine, waking up every morning around 8am to smile and talk to Mommy. I love that part of the day!
You eat about 8 times a day - usually every 2-2.5 hours. Around 8pm, you eat one more time and then by 9pm you're asleep for your long sleep. You will sleep anywhere between 4 and 7 hours. At your most consistent, you wake up at 3:30am to eat...usually just enough to satisfy you...then you go right back to sleep. After your middle-of-the-night feeding, I can expect you to eat every 2-2.5 hours from that point on. You're working on sleeping through the night, though, and I think we'll get there soon. Until then, I certainly don't mind snuggles in the middle of the night.
You are wearing 3 month size clothes. 0-3 still fit, but you're getting a little too long for them. 3-6 month sized clothes are way too big, though. So, for now, we'll stick with 3 month sizes.
You are such a happy baby. You love to be talked to, and you enjoy laying on your changing pad, looking up at mommy and daddy. You'll talk and talk to us during diaper changes. You're not a very fussy baby, but you will let us know when we need to pay attention to you! When you're hungry, and especially when you're sleepy, you get quite the temper. But, it's nothing some milk and snuggles can't fix! At night, we lay you down awake. Most 2 month olds won't fall asleep on their own, but you seem to prefer to. If, for some reason, you can't get yourself to sleep, some rocking chair action will help you drift right off.
I know all of your cues. I know what you like and don't like. I know how to get you to smile, and I can anticipate a meltdown and usually intervene before a crisis occurs! I love to watch you situate yourself in my arms so you can get into that "just right" position. You like to fall asleep with your head on my shoulder snuggled into my neck or cradled in my arms with your head in the crook of my elbow. You dad is the only other person you will fall asleep for when he holds you like I do. You light up when your daddy talks to you, and it makes his day! He's a busy guy, but when you smile at him, he stops everything and gets lost in your cuteness. He loves you so much; it's written all over his face.
I make a fool of myself over you, and there's no question how much I love you. I think you love us too. :) You know who your parents are, and we love that.
We love you, Collen. We are enjoying watching you grow - although it's happening way too fast. We can't get enough of you, and we pray that God will bless us with many, many, many years with you. He knew what He was doing when He gave us you. Thank you for bringing happiness, joy, and laughter back into our lives.

  2. He is absolutely adorable! I loved reading the similarities and differences on him and Ayden. Its so nice for you guys to have a piece of Ayden through him, but also for him to be his own little person.

The picture of him pouting his lip at the dr is absolutely adorable! Its so heartbreaking to see them like that but oh man are they adorable with they do it. The pic of you holding him, I think he looks like your husband in that pic. Hope you are doing well and I think of and pray for you guys often.
Thank you for sharing your precious boys with everyone.
