I spoke too soon....

So, yesterday, I had a little false hope, apparently, that my glucose test went well.

I failed. By two points. :(

The cut off was 140 - I was 142.

What does that mean, you ask?

THREE HOUR glucose test. Yep, I get to drink more of the glucose juice (some people complain about it - I'll chug that stuff down!!!) and then sit and wait having blood drawn at different intervals. Fun times. At least I get to sleep a little later in the morning and go into work later. I'm finished with students anyway (exams start tomorrow and my kids are DONE!), so my schedule just so happened to work out.

Wish me luck :)

Oh - and to the person who commented that the National Writing Project may lead to an online teaching position - YES!! That is what I would LOOOOOVE to have happen! I love my job, and if I could do it from home, that would just be ideal! If you have any connections..... ;)

Updated: I just read the first comment for this post - I so hadn't even considered the fact that I won't get to eat until lunch time! AAAHHHHHH!!! I had forgotten that. How cruel to do that to a pregnant woman. I mean, you're testing me for Gestational Diabetes, which requires me to go without food for at least 12 hours, and then I'm left so hungry that I'm going to want to eat anything and everything put in front of me. Something is backwards with this process....

  2. haha (b/c your funny, not at your starvation expense). i wish you luck! i hope all goes well and that time will pass. maybe collen can entertain you w/ all of that extra sugar during those 3 hrs of testing. as always, praying and thinking of you, jeremy, ayden and collen. also, i've been thinking...if you don't sell your house, have you thought about (silly question probably) making ayden's room into ayden's and collen's room? i'm ordering some picture letter art for both ayden and collen. maybe if you were to make the room become ayden's and collen's, instead of ayden's room becoming collen's room...just a thought from a stranger :) God bless you!

  3. Out of 5 pregnancies, I failed 2 of the one hours and passed the 3 hrs. Hopefully you will come through with flying colors. I did not feel all that hungry before, during, or after the 3 hr tests though. I was thankful for that.

Oh... and when I had to have the first 3 hr glucose test, it was over 16 years ago and while the process was basically the same, they had you eat several candy bars over the days leading up to the test. I was surprised when about 12 years later the candy bars had been dropped from the protocol.

  6. I am praying you :) But, GD isn't that bad, I had it with Jack, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
    Good luck!
